Sharing the experience

With power comes responsibility.

So it is not surprising that after long careers serving their communities with distinction, the partners of Bespoke Approach should continue to look for ways in which they may personally contribute to the better good.

In addition to its commercial clients, Bespoke Approach has chosen to offer pro-bono counsel and advice to a selection of not-for-profit organisations.

Ian Smith is chairman of leading arts organisation, Jirrawun Arts, based in the East Kimberley.

Appropriately, given the health issues he has witnessed there suffered by indigenous friends and their families, Ian accepted an invitation to join the Board of the Baker Heart Research and International Diabetes Institute.

Ian is also working to establish a national ovarian cancer research foundation and provides assistance to a range of other charities and philanthropic interests.

Nick Bolkus is a board member of the Healthy Living project, a joint venture of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Li Ka Shing Foundation.

The aim of this project is to promote, encourage and support healthy lifestyle changes in the north and far west regions of South Australia, with a special focus on the outback’s indigenous communities.

Nick is also a board member of the Australian Fisheries Academy, a not-for-profit training institution.

Complementing his colleagues’ domestic interests, Alexander Downer continues to make his mark in international aid and development policies.

As a founding member of the Global Health Group’s Advisory Board based at the University of California, Alexander is helping it to ensure the development of new approaches and/or technologies that will address global health issues.

The Australian String Quartet is one of the world’s leading classical musical groups and Bespoke Approach is proud to assist them through its national and international networks
